| Subject: How to Install Wordpress on Byethost Sat Dec 27, 2008 9:28 am | |
| First download your favorite FTP client such as SmartFTP or Cyberduck. Just Google those if you don't have an FTP client. I would suggest using a hosting service like Byethost.com, mainly because that is what I use. Now you're ready to install Wordpress. Install the latest version of Wordpress from http://wordpress.org/. Open your FTP client and connect. You will probably be prompted for your username and password, and your server. An example of an FTP server is ftp.somedomain.com. Type your username, password, and FTP server in. Next, upload the Wordpress folder to the FTP client. The Cyberduck users should just simply drag the file into the white empty space in Htdocs. SmartFTP users should also upload the files to the Htdocs folder. Now create a MYSQL database with Byethost. If you need help with creating a database, follow the pictures below. Log in to the Cpanel. Click on MYSQL databases. Now, under "Make new database", type a name for your new database. Click "Create Database". Now, copy that database name (Control C). Next, go to your Wordpress blog. You will need to fill out your email, etc. Next, you will need to go back to the Cpanel and find your MYSQL server. Mine is sql209.byethost8.com. Now, type that server into the text box that requires you to do so. Now, you are ready to blog on your Wordpress blog once you've submitted it. NOTE: You will need to remember your password given to you, or you will not be able to access your WP-Admin panel. If you have any questions, feel free to post them. | |
